Disappointments can be Gifts in Disguise
7. October 2007Durch ein paar Ereignisse der letzten Tage erinnerte ich mich an einen Artikel, den ich in meiner ACC-Zeit bei Coachville geschrieben habe.
Disappointments can be Gifts in Disguise
Only recently I had been promised a really wonderful deal jobwise, that would have propelled my personal and my business life forward dramatically. I had negotiated the details with one person, who was very optimistic about it, yet we had to get the approval of somebody else. Unfortunately our solution was not approved. So in the end there was no deal, nothing happened, nothing changed or so I thought at least. So what now? Was all the time I had invested in planning and preparing lost? What about the energy that I had felt in anticipation?
After the initial shock I wondered what this might mean and came up with the following: This outcome would change nothing. My plans and intentions were still the same. Nothing can stop me from taking the steps I intended to. Perhaps this is a way the Universe tests my determination? And without this promised deal perhaps I wouldn’t have invested the time in planning and gathering information. Actually I myself have changed during this process, as I had set my intentions and goals and had already taken the first steps. And this is what nobody can take away!
I know that this whole process has changed my life, because I have redefined my place in the world. The deal we had negotiated would have been nice, but actually it is not necessary. I came out of this much stronger and much more convinced and determined to walk my personal path.
Have you ever been presented a situation, that at first looked like a major setback, but when you looked closely it was either unimportant or it lead to a whole new set of experiences?
Or have you perceived something as a disappointment, that actually was a chance to learn? To learn more about yourself, the way you position yourself in the world, who you really are and what you really want?
What would change in your life if you looked at any of these situations and tried to find the hidden gift, that was brought to you?
